"I first met Brian in 1984. Tim and I had just moved from Los Angeles to Knoxville, Tennessee. We all quickly
became friends. Tim and I loved punk rock and skateboarding and Brian was really into heavy metal and playing
guitar. We spent a lot of weekends and afternoons skating and playing music in our garages. Tim and I started a band called the Bloo Shrooms. We played at parties, carnivals, roller rinks, and local clubs. Although Brian did not play in the band, I remember him at every show. When High school ended Brian moved to L.A. to pursue his dreams. Tim and I stayed in Knoxville and played in a few local bands. Around 1991 I moved to San Francisco and auditioned for numerous bands. I was getting really frustrated with playing the drums, so I bought a guitar and amp and started writing songs. Around 1993 I decided to move back to Knoxville and start a band with Tim. Brian had quit Carnival Art and started his own band the Space Twins with his then girlfriend. He had also joined the band Weezer. Well, Weezer took off and so the Space Twins were put on hold. Sometime around Weezer’s second album release they took a break and Brian wanted to get the Space Twins going again. He no longer was with his girlfriend, so Tim filled the bass position. Brian called me up and asked if I was interested in moving to L.A. and playing guitar in the band. One month latter we were practicing in my garage in Los Angeles. This is where I first met Mike Elliot. We instantly clicked as friends and as a band. Some of the most fun I have ever had has been playing in the Space Twins. They’re my good friends as well as my band mates." |
